In FUNK magazine this month is the incredible story about activating the island Escondia SA-096 By PA3EXX LU5WW LU1FAM   Amazing story  almost  hard to believe  what they did to activate this rare IOTA SA-096 island  http://dx-world.net/2013/lu6w-escondida-island-sa-096/  Swimming in dangerous cold water risking injuries losing rigs and setting up a station in the middle of a colony   of stinking hostile sea-lion's . I am not an IOTA hunter but I am deep impressed by this expedition.

After more then 20 years my radio room had to be complete cleared out for a new floor. What a lot of things gathered together in all these years. It is a travel back in time this cleaning up operation. It took many days to remove 3 tables 2 bureaus and all other furniture and radio stuff Including even my LP record collection.  Good that my cat is helping me where she can. The room sounds empty the acoustic is better. CQWWCW   de contest der contesten  30.000 man geschat zijn direct of indirect betrokken bij dit evenement is ons verteld op de HF-dag. Het neusje van de zalm op DX gebied op de banden aanwezig vanaf de mooiste locaties. DX waar je anders uren geduld voor moet hebben is nu massaal in de uitverkoop. Daar moet je bij zijn. Ik deed mee in sectie low power assisted. Het liefst had ik een andere 80 antenne opgezet  maar door tijdgebrek lukte me dat niet. Alleen de K9AY  Low band RX antenne weer beschikbaar. Alles weer met de basic antennes. Dipool en verticale draad antennes en de K3 100W Alle zone's  gewerkt   een aantal 6-banders  D4C  W3LPL WE3C Hoge SF getallen >>100  in de weken vooraf  met zeer goede propagatie op 28Mhz. de K9AY RX loop staat weer sinds gistermiddag . Een avond eerder in het donker bij maanlicht  op een "woest" stukje grond raakt alles super snel in de knoop toen lukte het niet  De ontvangst leek goed  voor/achter verhouding   NO/ZW is zeker >10dB  de 100m grondkabel heeft de winter goed doorstaan. Te laat voor K9W  maar het is niet anders. Op 160m S21ZBC sterk signaal  kwam vlot retour maar daarna had hij ineens veel problemen om de O van mijn call te nemen. Veel EU callers. Het is blijkbaar normaal gewoon door blijven roepen tijdens  "lopend" QSO . Zo was het QSO voor mij aan met een DO1  erg langdurend, duidelijk kwam S21ZBC steeds retour voor DO1??   maar de meute bleef gewoon door roepen daar schiet echt niemand wat mee op. Eerder was S21ZBC op  30m RTTY  QSO  ging vlot  op 80m goed gehoord maar ze hebben in Bangladesh een RX probleem te veel QRN  geen goede RX antenne lijkt het.  Ik heb...

Na de RSGB160 met 39 QSO Een poos met de LZDX op 80m  redelijk aanbod in CW   Goede propagatie op 10  zondag ochtend op cq komt niet veel retour de meeste deelnemers zitten in EU in de dode zone voor mij. RB report van ZL2HAM op 28 Er is slechts 1 station in de contest  VK3TXD   in het hele gebied van VK/ZL ! met goed signaal als altijd. verder  DXPEDITIES XZ1J op 7001 vlot in het log op 10119.9  XZ1J  ondanks beter signaal op 30m  lukte het niet 7026 XR0ZR  prima signaal 579  maar voorkeur USA  met af en toe een SP helaas trof ik niet Ron PA3EWP maar waarschijnlijk SP3DOI  op 40m tot mijn verbazing zie ik mijn call wel staan op het XR0ZR online log voor 40 CW ik heb geen rapport gehoord Ik kan dat rustig bekennen want ik ben geen echte QSL / award jager.. In ieder geval 1x gehoord en 1x in het log

This evening weak but workable T33A and first time heard K9W 40m rather weak possible not the best propagation tonight but my first time to copy them. Just fixed my 30/40m inverted V Used rotary dipole for 40m.   Lot of QRI  including the crazy  QRX / "contester"  Dx-pedition jammer  I have lost a bit my taste for joining DX-pedition pileup's with all the anti ham-spirit that comes with it. But could not ignore these interesting DX-peditions because of this. So I listened and tried just to ignore the deliberate QRI just as if it not existing. Just wait until the jammer(s)  get tired and keep on listening for the right moment to call. I  check my rig settings  to prevent unwanted simplex calling. And If some ham makes that mistake  just do not join the up up concert causing more QRM then the HAM that send's simplex by mistake.   When tuning I check the tune freq before and in between to prevent QRM-ing  not like some ...
