UR3LMZ XVTR 144 high level type mixer. Xtal l.o. switched of extern l.o. 114MHz port over SMA the mixer port needs a 50R termination This XVTR sat in my drawer for years, but now it’s getting a second chance by switching off the onboard 58 MHz crystal oscillator (oscillator base short to ground) and injecting a direct 114 MHz signal into the ADE-12 mixer using the Leo Bodnar GPS-disciplined signal generator, which can be set from 400 Hz to 810 MHz via its USB configuration program. The signal is very clean. The XVTR is built into a small aluminum box measuring 8 × 10.5 × 2.5 cm with a heat sink, and it drives 3–4 W into the input attenuator of my BLF188xr PA. It’s important to terminate the L.O. mixer port with 50 Ω; otherwise, the IMD is very high. I use 114 MHz for the Flex XVTR with a 30–32 MHz IF. I wanted to receive 2m with the good band panorama of the Flex6500. This offers a different experience seeing what happens on the band without tuning a...
