This afternoon Aurora was reported. Could it be that tonight there was a chance  for propagation to VK on 160 and 80 m ?  I was expecting this at sunset/ sunrise in Australia And could  you believe it, this type of propagation seems a bit predictable! Many weeks  we hardly  saw DX  above 1000km in Europe on low bands. it is very clear that weak aurora temporary opens the low band DX path by sweeping away the summer D-layer absorption. Thanks to WSPR this rare type of propagation was noticed. De ene dag  ZL/VK decodes   de volgende dag niets Het gaat sterk op en neer  eigelijk geen peil op te trekken  korte golf propagatie. Gisteravond tot na middernacht USA  midwest  op 10m plotseling terwijl USA decodes deze week minimaal waren. Vanmorgen veel decodes VK7 Tasmanie maar geen ZL's    Alleen Zuidoost DL blijft openingen houden naar NieuwZeeland   En natuurlijk Zuideuropa  daar hebben de aardmagnetische storingen haast geen invloed. In zuid Europa is al vele weken lang 6m en 4m  open   zelfs Hawaii op 6m met OE lukte. Er is een vrij scherpe rooi lijn over Europa ten noorden waarvan geen 50MHz propagatie is. Ongeveer bij noord Italië begint de perma 50MHz ruis zone.   De afgelopen week toch  nog  8x ZL  7x VK7 en VK3 VK5 VK8  De slechtste dag was 21-4   haast blackout op 10  alleen FR en CX  decodes  Ook jammer dat American Samoa KH8/PA3EWP expeditie precies na de super goede periode begon  ik heb ze alleen op 17m kunnen werken.
