  K3 repair - deafness after HI RFI warning M0VFC Thanks for sharing! This was  3 years ago   I also found the K3 total deaf after HI-RFI warning. Need to have the K3 service manual opened  with PDFD reader ( I prefer Sumatra for PDF) In my case, D25 was fine, but the signal is stopped in the KXV3 by D5, which is a BAP64-4 . The issue was caused by transmitting on an antenna very close to the K3 antenna on the same band. After checking the RX preamp on the main board, I found that preamp Q4 and the post-preamp were undamaged and still sensitive to hand effects. Connecting a temporary antenna to the 80m band filter produced normal expected signals, and receiving through the sub-receiver AUX port was also fine. However, the rear SO239 antenna inputs were completely dead. The antenna signal travels a long path in the K3: entering via SO239 1/2 at the KAT3 ATU, passing through to P70 on the main RF board, going through the SWR bridge where the ANT signal is grounded...

  De V71 van een kennis miste het kabeltje tussen het afneembare front en de radio, maar dat bleek niet het enige probleem. Het front is standaard intern met een kort 12 cm, 4-polig kabeltje verbonden met de radio. Optioneel kan dit kabeltje zo’n 4 meter lang zijn, zodat bediening op afstand mogelijk is, zij het zonder microfoon, in tegenstelling tot de IC706 waarbij de microfoon op het frontdeel kan worden aangesloten. Voor gebruik in een camper heb ik zelf een kabel gemaakt: RJ11 7 mm 4-polig aan het front en RJ45 aan de transceiver. Dat werkte, maar de ontvanger bleek volledig doof; geen enkel signaal werd ontvangen, zelfs niet met een porto vlakbij. Mijn eigen V71 werkte daarentegen prima in de camper.   Na vervangen van IC3 de breedband voorversterker en nog een Fet-switch en surpressor  werkt de ontvangst weer als vanouds heel gevoelig  en door de vele bandfilters ook heel selectief dwz geen omroep band IMD, waar bv de Kiwi's last van hebben Ontvangst was doof door te veel RF  in-koppeling 50MHz   IC3  moest vervangen heel kleine breed band versterker deze van ali express was fake  Farnel via Okaphone  nog goedkoper ook zijn wel oké was een fout om deze bij Ali te bestellen ..flux er op en van onderen verhitten op de via onder het IC de massa zit op het grondvlak... tin met laag smeltpunt gebruiken  maar niet met  Bismut dat gaat corroderen .. De  "Farnel"ADL5531  heeft rechthoekige zijvlakjes  anders dan de afbeelding op het Farnel blad maar deze werkt wel  het vervangen van dit 3x3mm IC is geen alledaags werk..  uiteindelijk lukte het door met een 450C hete soldeerbout direct onder IC3 op de via naar m...

  OY9JD, OY4TN, and OY6FRA are coming in at S9 levels, but no beacons yet—still waiting for TF activity along the southeast Iceland coast. Would be great to be there to check for any 144 MHz signals.  On 10 GHz, PE9GHZ at 10368.815 is a daily copy at 267 km, while PI4NOS 10368.900 is weak but back on air—wondering if it’s at 360 m ASL or just a test site at normal ASL. LB2SHF heard again, but not strong. QSOs are rare on 3 cm, and now my rotor’s digital readout is improved to 0.1 degrees, which is more precise than the potmeter resolution can provide.

  7-7-2026  Grote opening naar westkust USA  overal in Europa maar hier slechts een paar verre USA kort gezien  overal elders was  deze opening zoals gebruikelijk veel beter. Rotor remote project Aangezien Chrome remote desktop niet meer werkt op de I-Phone en andere ? moest ik iets  anders maken om op afstand de rotoren te kunnen sturen Nu heb ik aan mijn bestaande rotor remote besturing   met  ESP8266  een webpagina toegevoegd. Eerst geprobeerd  met een ESP32 mini kit   en een ESP32 DEV KIT 1    bij beide was het niet mogelijk de rotor web pagina te openen , slechts af en toe  na vele pogingen en resets kwam soms kort even de web pagina in beeld. Daarna hetzelfde programma in  een  oudere ESP8266 geladen en dat probleem was over de rotor pagina werd  vlot door  Edge of Firefox of op de iPhone geladen  en de knoppen werkten......maar  ADC  uitlezing van de az  spannin...

 My pesent 144PA 500W  uses an Arduino controller with a Nano and an OLED monochrome display. I initially programmed it myself, but later replaced the software with AI-generated code that runs in graphic mode, making it more efficient and compact. The new  PA controller with ESP32 mini and ST7789 display shows power, bar, drive power, sequencer,SWR >3 and drive level protection, supply voltage/current, temperature via NTC, and fan PWM control. The peak/hold feature was tricky—it seemed broken until I realized the wrong variable was being displayed. No matter what I tried, it wouldn’t fix, and then the AI pointed out, “You displayed the wrong variable.” Turns out the AI caused it but blamed me! Quite the human-like behavior. Meanwhile, AI can whip up structured software in no time. PA0V needed a power control for a dual driver Matt65 small OLED display Nano, and it was done in a minute after describing the requirements. AI generated  a new PA controller software...

Deze klassieke FM/AM tuner TU717 met bijpassende versterker AU717 heb ik al meer dan 45 jaar. Het is een versterker van hoge kwaliteit met een dubbele, gescheiden zware voeding voor links en rechts. Ik kocht hem in Groningen, in de tijd dat er nog veel HIFI-speciaalzaken waren, o.a. HOF  en waarschijnlijk bij Eringa. Daar kon je  na afspraak luisteren  om een keuze te maken..Sinds 1985 wonen we buiten de stad, en zo’n 20 jaar geleden (moet nog nagaan wanneer precies) kregen we een directe blikseminslag. Veel apparatuur was stuk, waaronder de Sansui, maar alles kon worden gerepareerd. In de complete eindversterker zijn veel transistoren vervangen door standaard BC547 457. de TO3  ON eindtorren heb ik in Turkije gekocht in een heel mooie electronica winkel in Kutaya !  Sommige printbanen waren volledig verdampt. Daarna werkte alles weer jarenlang, al viel het stereogeluid soms weg door vermoedelijk slecht contact in de FM/FM-Stereo/AM-schakeling. Contactreiniger l...

TX5EU in the Pacific BG66ED has been coming in with remarkably good signals from Austral Island, even now with the SFI dropping just above 100. The radio path from JO33 is QTF 316, sometimes on 20m directly over the North Pole. I missed the peaks on 80m and 10m, and now with a K=6 magnetic disturbance and a tropical storm affecting them, conditions are tough. I’ve worked 9 slots so far. The 60m contact was special, made with my Windom antenna, SWR 1:5, tuned and barefoot at 100W FT8—very surprised TX5EU came back after just a few calls.   Other bands required much more patience, though I prefer CW.   Twice I had SPLIT off—sorry about that, it was brief. I usually stop calling when a QSO is pending to avoid unnecessary QRM, but many callers just keep transmitting during an pending contact, even when the operator asks them to stop. On top of that, there’s often a lot of DQRM, which is pointless to respond to—it only makes things worse. Great operation! Excellent signal...
