IARU R1 70 MHz Contest Report. 19 20 Juli

 26 QSO in CW USB. Op zaterdag wat zwakke signalen uit Engeland, in de avond haast geen signalen meer. Dit was geen FT8 dat was duidelijk... 

Op 70MHz is men in Engeland heel actief , voor een grote contest zoals deze IARU R1 24uur zoekt men daar goede locaties op zoals hier M0ICK/P IO84SA ik had QSO nr 4 Michael al 41! . Maar ook op de activity avonden op de Dinsdag avonden van de de maand zijn veel Engelse stations actief . Zo kon ik op de 2e dinsdag  van juni op 1 avond in een paar uur tijd 100QSO's op 70cm 432 MHz in CW USB hoofdzakelijk G's maar ook SM7 6 OZ SP OK DL   zoek  voor de agenda op : https://vhf-uhf.veron.nl/contesten/contestrobot/

 

On 70 MHz activity in England is very strong. For a major contest like the IARU R1 24‑hour, operators look for good locations, such as M0ICK/P IO84SA. I had QSO number 4, while Michael already had 41!

But also during the activity evenings on Tuesday nights each month, many English stations are active. On the second Tuesday of June I managed, in just a few hours, to log 100 QSOs on 70 cm / 432 MHz in CW/USB, mostly G stations but also SM7, OZ, SP, OK, and DL.

Pas op Zondag later in de ochtend ging de band open eerst 9H1PA 

daarna vrijwel heel Spanje ,het geduld werd beloond.  gemiddelde  haast 1200km 

Ook EA op 70.200 in FM , helaas wel te dicht op USB waardoor een QSO haast niet mogelijk was.  

4M station de IC7100 met kleine PA  en 5el DK7ZB 

DL2OM was de enige deelnemer in Duitsland die had een redelijke score waarschijnlijk "lokale" DL die ik niet hoorde de zeer matige propagatie was daar debet aan.

Opvallend gebrek aan Nederlandse deelnemers  PE4BAS  PB7Z waren wel zo sportief om een puntje te geven Het gejammer van sommige PA's over weinig activiteit neem ik niet meer serieus er is op elke dinsdag avond 20 tot 23 uur   van de maand activiteit.  1e Dinsdag 2m 2e 70cm 3e 23 4e 13 en hoger

op woensdag is dan digitale activiteit  op 70 en 50 MHz op donderdag zie Veron Contestrobot 

Eerder deze maand  EA8TJ  en 5B4AIF op 4m 

De ES opening naar  4X5AB en OD  op 2 en 4m kwam niet noordelijker dan zuid-west NL zoals gebruikelijk

 

 

 On Sunday later in the morning the band finally opened, first with 9H1PA. Then almost all of Spain came in — patience was rewarded, with an average distance of nearly 1200 km.

Also heard EA on 70.200 FM, unfortunately too close to USB, making a QSO almost impossible.

My 4 m station: IC7100 with small PA and 5‑element DK7ZB at 23 m above ground.

DL2OM was the only participant in Germany with a decent score, probably “local” DL stations I could not hear — the very poor propagation was to blame.

Noticeable lack of Dutch participants. PE4BAS and PB7Z were at least sporting enough to give a point. The complaints from some PA’s about “little activity” I no longer take seriously — there is activity every Tuesday evening from 20:00 to 23:00:

• 1st Tuesday: 2 m

• 2nd Tuesday: 70 cm

• 3rd Tuesday: 23 cm

• 4th Tuesday: 13 cm and higher

I hope this activity one day can be in  coperation with the UKAC to generate more interest.

Earlier this month: EA8TJ and 5B4AIF on 4 m. The Es opening to 4X5AB and OD on 2 and 4 m did not reach further north than southwest NL, as usual.
