5W0M

5W0M  ... Talofa ... Afio mai ! from Le Lagoto on Savaii in the northern part of the island - grid AH36TN Th is fine DX-pedition is over now.  T hanks guys for the  30 and 20m QSO. A l so the band police tuners and deliberate QRI diots  must be complete satisfied by now.... The location of Western Samoa is special,  the difficulty is not the distance it is not the fares t point from here.  I t is easier t o contact VK1,2,3,7 ZL   at 16500-18500km from here but it is the path. From my QTH it is straight over the northpole. T hat should explane the very weak signals .   W hy it was much easier  just about 500km south is puzzling me.  F or one or another reason it is easier t o get over the north pole from  Munich or Milan o or anywhere  just a tiny bit south in relat ion to the total distance ?     source:   http://www.hamlog.eu

JIDX CW and GAGARIN CUP SO2C

This weekend   SO2C Single operator 2 contest mode We  had our 1/2 day o f spring Sunday, it is back to storm and grey sky now. JIDXCW    best JA signals at  28MHz  good propagation  no contacts 80 160  5x the score against 2012  Hi power n ot real "needed" but  already used my PA for some weak signals at the beginning no t expecting that good signals I was trapped in hi- power mode.       GAGARIN CUP 5W0M very weak 14.002kHz  arctic flutter just could copy Q5 the id. But only 1 call needed  not many takers fb hearing there. The path to Western Samoa is direct over the North pole. Very difficult path in this part of Europe. Until now  heard/ worked   5W0M  only on 30m with reasonable signal.  N ever a trace of signal wh ile they are worked at 28 in the south.   We have been in propagation black hole since December 2012 here While South Euro...

WSPR reduced power to 1W

Solar flux is on the rise again. 1W  level now seems just as good as 5W on 80 and 10m VK7AB  reports  on 28MHz this morning again. And  still 28MHz USA decodes now at 20:10 UTC   Low bands are real poor but in the late night some USA decodes into EL EN are possible even with 1W The Russian OTH radar QRM in the evening still continuous. 1 month now.  On 70MHz running 20W  WSPRnet.org  tonight is offline  again. My last dx  5W0M 30m CW few days ago.

WSPRNET.ORG was lost now back

It's okay now  I had to force down another ad site tab  and then I could log in again. But strange I could go to other sites normal. Suddenly I was trapped on a page advertising for   Nuvoryn a miracle slimming agent With unbelievable discount 300€ to 60 only tested by a real doctor.!   I was redirected to godaddy.com  and got this message: NOTICE: This domain name expired on 04/04/2013 and is pending renewal or deletion. I was a bit tense since internet banks are having access problems today again.  North Korea could have started an internet attack?

28MHz propagation recovers a bit

Still freezing nights -5C  but finally sun is out again. Same time the DX reports start to come back. Coincidence or not? OZ7IGY next generation beacon

now the ID is CW  and PI4 code It was JT65C2 for digital ID before It took some time to decode the new digital ID  in PI4 code http://www.rudius.net/oz2m/software/pi-rx  My fir st impression is that  JT65C2 that was used before is decoding quicker and better.  Possible the PI4  will be inproved It is the fir s t time I used this PI4  never heard about it before. Need to read more about it.   JT65C2 did decode fast e no ugh for a beacon 10seconds? PI4 code  will have some mo re options to send extra data and other things.
