K5P

Monday afternoon/evening  at arrive home from QRL
heard good at 3524kHz best copy so far 559
The first time at 80m in W-EU?  so low chance with all the big guns in the waiting room
It has to be early just before our sunset to KH5 i think  lost the signal before their sunrise
Later 20m weaker arctic flutter  signal   they need huge ERP to get in the log from here.

Palmyra K5P   poor signals in this propagation
mainly working USA and JA
Here heard only  at 7001 KHz today weak under heavy QRI  DQRM  tuners etc the usual lids
earlier this week better Q5 cpy 7014   and  30m
K5P  14081 RTTY heard but under decoding level.
poor propagation  and D-QRM

Repaired the "CQWW" damage to  40/20m traps
The tuning is 100kc lower in the CW part  but adjusting the tuning of the elements is possible with the sections and topload.

PE melted down.. now using PTFE tubes

Perfect match low in CW part 40 and 20  tuning 100kc lower with the PTFE fiber reinforced coil sections but that can be adjusted with the element tuning options.
This type of beam is considered as a child toy
It will explode when applying the power needed to work Palmyra if one can hear them in EU in a rare break of the LID QRI..

Poor propagation  but in the HA DX 160m  sudden  hard to believe DX calls   100W cq

20160116 2346   1831.5 CW   PA0O         599  246  KD6UO           599   002        3
20160116 2348   1831.5 CW   PA0O         599  248  AA6RR           599   002        3

AA6RR  cfmd by mail he was calling from Maine

KD6UO  will be in Maine aswell
No RBN TA spots at the time  160 has been extreme poor this season.
with just a few rare exceptions.

One other remarkable call   80m ,out of the blue  on cq 100W
20160116 2152   3517.9 CW   PA0O         599  174  JF8QNF          599   008        3
real 579 signal from Hokaido  while other JA spots where not copy-able
that must be long path ? But if so one would expect more from K5P KH5 ?
a  mystery for me

 best DX
20160117 0907  21026.9 CW   PA0O         599  315  ZL1BYZ          599   159        3
20160117 1031  14052.5 CW   PA0O         599  386  ZL1BYZ          599   231        3

in WSPR  this was best dx last night that is over normal.. yesterday zip DX f.i.

28MHz is poor but almost every morning  decoded by VK2KRR
even today no signals heard no RBN reports

60m WSPR   many decodes of ZS6SRL ZS6KTL and ZS4AFV last week

I wonder how to QSO ZS at 60m  guess split TX 5.353 RX 5.290 ?
never saw a cluster spot of ZS  it is easy in WSPR

2011-01-22 DIAMOND 2m 70cm 1m30 Colinear inside

Having relative poor signals on the local 70cm / 2m channels using this X50 Diamond collinear 70/2  1m antenna at a height of 25m. I needed to investigate what could be wrong. Measuring the cable only 3W is left for the antenna of the 10W 435MHz output from a IC451E The cable is 30m type H100 Z50 10mm outside diameter it is semi air-spaced but has an impossible 4mm² solid CU inner conductor not much air left. I preferred the H43 Z75 cable having lower loss and mechanical better ratio in conductor size. My antenna uses SO239 connector UHF type semi air spaced isolator.  3W should be enough for a comfortable noise free FM signal. But only 27km away at PA0A the signal is weak too weak something must be wrong? I made a simple reference dipole of 2x17cm CU wire. With this dipole the signals where totally worse. So the Diamond does work? I got curious to look inside. Maybe moisture penetration degraded the antenna. This  antenna is rainwater close in its n...

SPF5189z Low noise preamp 23cm

14-4-2018 updated Above the low noise  preamp 50 - 4GHz    ebay  6€ Tested  2 small porto antennas 1 Baofeng UV antenna left   2nd best signal on PI2NOS 2 eBay DIAMONDSRH805S  wide band 144/432/1200  it works for its size as expected 3 piece of wire :   best signal in the setup... Unit under test at workbench. It was stable  50mA  at 5V   few days,  but sudden the current went up to 100mA And i could  no longer adjust it with the negative bias Voltage. The - Voltage went to zero and the SPF input port became low Z. This SPF5189z was broken  no oscillations, no input overload just it broke while i was receiving the PI2NOS 430.125 using a small antenna at the workbench. The specs of  SPF5189z  say it has an internal circuit  regulating the bias current. Replaced . again   with an other of the 5 spare SPF i have. The new one again could be adjuste...
