CQ160 2016
----
------
first time with almost zero DX that I can remember
changed today Beverage East in hope to catch JA
Beverage is okay but can't make something out of nothing
only JH4UYB was yesterday good copy none else JA
again today wspr.net.org is unreachable most of time
Now we have a competition, the WSPR chalence list by PE1ITR and PA3FYM

Now we have a competition, the WSPR chalence list by PE1ITR and PA3FYM
2 lists per band:
1 Rated by the number of unique decodes shows how many wspr users are active / band
2 Rated by the sum of distances of the unique decodes
nice that at least something useful is done with all the WSPR data
like here
http://wspr.pe1itr.com/score.php?band=3&peildatum=2016-01-29
I like the idea of competition.
For me WSPR always was a competition to see how I was doing against other hams in the same propagation area
I learned about propagation I have a good location I should not complain
Easy to see how much difference in propagation is within the EU.
f.i. 28MHz VK seems never to be closed in JO50 .. DL6NL with 500mW is decoded in VK
while others like here have zero propagation !
It is a receiving challenge that makes this special. Only the received dx counts
SWL's do count for 100% in this competition.
Someone has to Tx of course but you will only help the other competitors with your TX...
I have some worries that the WSPR community can slide down
toward the excesses found with the "regular" real DX-ers and DX-peditions
abusing the bands with illegal power and behavior.
WSPR still is heaven for DX.
One of the last resources where HAMS have ham spirit and people are real interested in radio propagation.
Even if P5/xxx would be on in WSPR there would be no chaos
I hope this will not change bij this challenge list...
I did set up 2 Beverages for 160/80 but my best rating has been the 60m challenge
With the ZS decodes I end up in the top of the list regularly not expected.
We can not reach VK or USA since we have no permission to TX in the WSPR window like the
UK stations can. Why do UK hams have that much more privileges ?
Great Britain still rules the waves.
VK2KRR FY5KE did not count in my challenge score for unknown reason

My receiving is staying behind must be something wrong with Beverage
but weather is too nasty
