Since a few weeks the Rusian OTH radar is active again
Covering the 200Hz WSPR window at 80M 3594.1 kHz
WSPR screen looks like this
The straight horizontal lines indicate a very stable frequency base better then 1hz.
WSPR shows the slightest frequency drifting or Doppler effects during Aurora very clearly.
It sound like this :

Not that we will loose DX there simply are no DX decodes last weeks to east. Except some rare USA in the morning at 80m.
160m best DX is not even over 1000km.
The season is closed ftb.
WSPR using band hopping sometimes reports the wrong band.
This usual happens when manually switching band.
Band hopping then seems to loose track of the band to report. That is what I experience .
Tonight this happened again but this time I was not at the radio. Band-switching 4m and 80m was checked.
I saw this when coming back in the shack:
2138 -7 -0.5 3.594112 0 DK4XI JN39 37
2 false reported on 4m
2142 -23 0.9 70.092460 0 G8VDQ IO91 37
2142 -19 -1.6 70.092478 0 GW4WND IO82 23
2150 -24 -1.4 70.092534 -1 PA0TBR JO22 43
I would like to believe that I received GW4WND using 200mW on 4M but given the present propagation that is next to impossible.
I believe now this faulty band reporting is due to decoding time overflow into the next 2minutes band frame where the band was already switched to 4m. The decoding of the 80m frame was finished in the 4m band frame.
80m decodes take very long with the Rusian OTH radar traces disturbance.
That would be a good explanation of this phenomenon. It does not happen often but some type of disturbances in traces do keep the decoding very busy.
