I am home with small medical problem infection at right elbow.
No problem I have learned to use the CW paddle left hand..
Only 6M and 4M are very quiet suddenly now I'm home.
Nice weather, we enjoy the blessings of the land-life.
In the bio-chemical industry zone... Where is al that cow shit coming from? I know they eat a lot of grass but that much!
Sorry its my nature to be "negative" I should have said the characteristic flavour and smell of the countryside.
I have a disposal bag ad hand ( kots zak ="pocket cost" = translator )
btw once I saw "trek ontlasting" translated as appetite release I think it should have been "strain release" funny but still we use this expression when seeing a bad translation.
( I am aware this post contains errors too you are free to correct the spelling errors. )
K3 PWR trouble. TXG ERR message sometimes and setting 5W fails the power jumps back automatic to a lower level.
After quick inquiry at Elecraft 1 of the LPA FET RD15HVF1 could be defective.
Easy check the gate-source resistance should be high. Here 1 of the 2 FET's has a low R so it is time for a surgery again.
The RD15HVF1 is a Mitsubishi VHF 15W TO220 source to flange type. 7€ DutchRFschop already in the mail this morning!
No panic .. seems not difficult to replace. Only removing the bottom shield I hope is enough to access the LPA Fets
Clearing the holes is the difficult part. Especial the source grounded middle via.
My de-soldering tool alone could not do it. 60W adding flux etc.
And bend the pins the wrong way that is correct.
The one in the middle has low gate R.
But LPA bias needs readjust after replacing with hopeful positive result..
That means removing of the KPA3 to access the bias controls.
I'm becoming a K3 specialist...
Meantime problem is solved. replaced the FET and adjusted bias.
Output normal 12W HF and 8W 6M. When starting TX the output level settles quick not like before slowly increasing to the set-point.
The K3 has an AGC on TX . that is responding normal again. Is was slow because of the missing gain it tried to regulate up to get the selected output level. On 80m still 5W after some time.
This AGC is a nice feature it prevents overdrive also when using digi-mode audio on line in
