Maybe came to late at the radio. Heard a pile at 50105 Apparently calling up for PJ4E. PA's west of me were calling. I did not hear the PJ4E. I did not hear any DX could be something is wrong at the RX or antenna here.
Dough i do hear the regular beacons normal ?
Also the result at 50MHz WSPR is good but hard to compare.
Since there are only a few QRV in EU. And very very few outside EU to catch. CN8LI is regular the best DX 1x OD/DL Further 4X1DA but not seen yet here.
of course Ross T61AA in MM44 is active but he will need his 6m yagi's up if not there is not much chance to decode.
If we had no WSPR possible would not have put the 6m antenna up even knowing that WSPR activity is low at 6. But the idea being QRV at 6m 7 days/week was too tempting. Remembering the openings i had to miss in the past by not being QRV..
So stop digging into the noise. 6M is nice for S-EU in this low sunspot time and back to the 80/160 less location discriminating bands..
Just 250km south in ON the number of usable opening are much higher. When we started at the magic band about 25 years ago already again... We where all very enthusiast and excited with every opening. Then I thought naively that i as most north PA could compete with the others I live in a low noise area in open field my setup has always been simple 120W 9ele . I spent a lot! real a lot of time on the magic band. I thought my setup was inferior to the others. Then i heard OK's I SV working easy and better DX i could not even hear.
I learned that is normal in the northeast. Even an excellent antenna array here can still be beaten by a rusty dipole in south EU.
Its simple: 1rst the location 2nd rig and operator.
The 1rst and only time Hawaii was worked on 6m, only PA's in the south just 200km away could make it. A sharp line on the map above that line nothing heard.
When the solar cycle is real good things can be different. In cycle 22 that happened. Cycle 23 was not as good and 24 still has to start..
In this weak cycle we here will be the last one to hear DX that is reported south. And we will always be the weakest in the pile ..
After working the 35th PA PE PH PF the dx om gets a bit tired to listen to another weak PA ;-)
Then what is so special about WSPR?
First it is always monitoring your signal and reporting it even 100 times per day as it happens. I believe this mode is made for the magic band, but yet it is not very popular.
Of course a normal direct QSO is preferred above an "robot" contact in WSPR but why not let your station work when you have other things to do ? With the low power and small band resource WSPR needs that can not harm other band users.

I managed to work over 200 DXCC in the end so i can not complain it will never be easy to get them all where ever you live.
And the newcomers will have a hard job to get 200# we could not for-see that our first cycle peak 22 was the best one and would not repeat.
