3cm beacon succes :   It was great to hear your beacon on 10368.9047 today from my /P site at io76xa61ab at 750km using an 85cm dish - It was the first PA beacon I have heard from there and the only one today - not even DB0GHZ was audible - so, thank you for putting it on!   Very useful indeed!  Wav file attached. 73 Alan GM0USI/P   3cm   PA0O/B heard since start:  Beacon info: 200mW   10368.905 trough some  semi rigid into a horn broad antenna at  22m ag  https://www.beaconspot.uk/beaconc.php?beaconcall=PA0O https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=A284E891405B21F7&id=A284E891405B21F7%211577&parId=root&o=OneUp Very strong 23cm signals from G 9+60 some 1296.174 psk reports exclusive FT8 144.174 beacons heard 23cm besides the "normal"      dx 1296905 gb3ngi io65vb<tr>jo33hg s9+ dx 1296985 gb3csb L s5 dx 1296890 gb3dun io91sv<tr>jo33hg s9 dx 1296960 sr1kol jo74se<tr>jo33hg s6 max dx 1296859...

Digital activity evening 144MHz

surprised to see where i was heard,

10.368.910 GHz beacon active

6 August evening i setup a small Kuhne 10G beacon at 10368.9  200mW  integrated with horn antenna in a plastic box ( a lender from  Rob PE1ITR ) The horn antenna just looking over the dish in the rotating part of the antenna  about 23m a.g. JO33hg31 It will turn but i can direct it on demand that is the advantage. Tropo openings expected in the evenings during the heatwave we have now.  First report came from PA0JUS 599 42km   and G3XDY 390km  also seen at web SDR PI2EHV Eindhoven JO21QK  dx 221km  Tropo ducting was very strong that first evening. At 23cm strong beacons  GB3NO 9+ GB3MHZ  LA1UHG S9 LB2SHF 9+  LA3SHF OZ beacons SK6MHI UHI beacons 1296.800 and 805  and strong radar ON0VHF PE9GHZ  also tropo backscatter observed Also a new 23cm beacon   PA1SDR  1296.550 FT8 mode from JO33kh  maybe beter freq woud be  1296.174 in the FT8 window My 23cm XVTR  with VHFdesign SKY67151 lna st...

Es season going to end

In the end i decided to place a 6m antenna 5 ele ( DK7ZB design) i had to skip the 2 ele extension to keep it easy catched  the next Friday morning huge JA opening and a smaller Saturday the Es is already leaving us and going south

50 Mhz opening 29 June Zonnewende propagatie ( Summer Solstice klinkt als een darm aandoening)

BV6CC  very first time copied  Taiwan and DU6/PE1NSQ    using Steppir 4ele 60m cable  ACom1000 But we had to leave for an appointment ... This opening was even better then the Saturday before  it went further to DU6/PE1NSQ  BV6CC . How big is the chance  that such an opening happens exactly one has to leave for an appointment .. I think 100% it is typical for 6m. I could work remote but the real DX was drowned between the many EU callers

Replacing a Steppir coax cable is an easy job i thought

Steppir down for coax replacement. To replace the coax i needed to bring the Stepper complete down. By coincidence  the same afternoon we had a thunderstorm A so called supercell caused a lot of damage 25km east of me  here Luckly only short time strong wind and a shower rain. Supercell 27-6 Oude Pekela The plan was to replace 30m H100 with 25m RF400 low loss flexible cable. An easy job should fix it in the standing lowered mast in an hour or so.... But this took me all afternoon and part of the evening. RF400 is "the best coax in this diameter 9.5mm"  I used PL259  connectors of a higher quality This type is for semi-air or foam cable like RF400 but i first did not know what the "extra" ring is for. Afterwards i found that it should be over the braid against the gasket, then the braid must be clamped between the 2 rings the The opening of that ring is too smal to fit over the outside but does go over the bread. The lower ring bus is pressed i...
