The ARRL is the mother of all Radio contests dating back to 1927 following the early Trans Atlantic tests started  1920 Hiram Percy Maxim, founder of the ARRL, ca. 1914. Hirham was a well equipped radio amateur having a 1kW Tx but the range of radio contacts was only a few 100 miles in those days that is why radio messages had to be relayed over more points. And so he founded the ARRL the American Radio Relay League. If he could see that now in 2014 with just a 100W Tx all of USA VE and the rest of the world could be contacted in just one weekend!!  This year is the 100th anniversary of the ARRL b.t.w! Log is nu  ingestuurd  inclusief CN  sectie Low power CW  niets veranderd  de laatste jaren nog steeds dipolen en verticals.  Alleen 80m zou eventueel beter kunnen werken door meer afstand van de verticaal tot de mast.  Ik denk ook wel dat dat zo is. WSPR gaf af en toe super DX op 10 en 160 80 de week ervoor maar resultaten van een dag eerder geven geen enkele garantie. zaterdag 1200UTC de aftrap   pas na  4 minuten CQ kwam eindelijk 1tje retour oei en dat terwijl 10m waar ik begon echt wel open was. Ik had de indruk dat er een aardige aardmagnetische storing was   10 was stil Geen JA geen YB HS  wel wat W VE en een verdwaalde SA zelfs XE maar die gaf geen contest nummer  zo waren er nog een paar potentiële multy's maar om nu te gaan smeken  aldoor voor een contest nummer  dat gaat wel ver. In de hoop dat de meeste hams zo langzaam aan wel voorzien zullen zijn vanavond waren ze goed op 80m  QSO lukte  (met PA)  ook  30m  met 100W lukte 17 en 20  goede signalen en vlotte QSO´s maar daar waren de piles te heftig 

Yess this evening better signal here  1826.5  QSX dwn  heard him working JA's and then SV8CV?   found QSX and just 2 calls lucky in a QSB peak  "easy"  much easier then the other bands. I think it was Nodir  hearing good at 160m  A nice surprise  I will not try  much on other frequencies since  I do not like blind calling with high power.  http://www.qsl.net/pa0oos/2014/ft5zm_160_1.mp3 160m is relative my best band here I know if I hear one I can work him. Other bands  need hundreds of calls to get reply. F.i. a 559 569 signalat 10115kHz  they do not seem to be very busy, long receive pauses low QSO rate and even some CQ's. But calling with 100w  seems absolute useless.  Is it the OM power >2kW PA  in combination with high noise?   I will not pollute the bands further with useless calls anymore unless they reach  S7-9 level.
