50MHz was good open only single hop for us strong but not real DX
4X4DK 579 heard working into W0 land ! no DX of that sort here
and CN8KD also into west USA...
3B9FR QSL card was in the mail that was a quick service of M0OXO
een ezel stoot zich geen 2 keer aan dezelfde software...
Now I installed UBUNTU on an other LAPTOP that has no hardware issues
To find out if UBUNTU can run stable ..
This PC had W7 home SPI installed
Starting with the UBUNTU CD
The options presented are
Format W7 and install UBUNTU
other install on a different partition etc i can not recall all and screen capture can not be done
B.t.w this CD could automatic install U. on a new partition or I did not understand right?
Using Ubuntu GPART tool. But the W7 partition was marked by GPART as unreadable and therefore not shrinkable.
Gpart that was presented as easier and faster as W7 disk management? not true!
W7 drivemanager could do that easy
then again reboot with the U CD and install
using the 2nd option install Ubuntu along W7 to be able to boot W7 or U
thats what I wanted
It installed U. did not ask a what partition it should install dough
The reboot system no OS choice came up no BIOS boot message /options.
Just Ubuntu did boot!
Gone is W7 ! ?
Also boot from CD gone! it ends in a empty Ubuntu colored screen after some rattling of the CD player
After numerous reboots pressing esc f8 f10 the CD did boot again and GPart showed the
4 partitions including a Linux swap this swap is used as external memory swap it had nothing to do with booting
It seems W7 partition is still there only it is unreachable UBUNTU does not allow W7 to boot
is it the revenge of the Linux crowd?
I choose to install U along existing W7 and that would give me a dual boot option.
But it was not told that this dual boot option can only made to work with lot of effort by skilled Linux sect members
So how now boot W7 something like GRUP2 ?
How is this dual boot W7 / U presented to the user as a boot option menu?
I have seen a boot menu on the other Laptop that let me choose between HD and CD boot.
But nothing indicates now that there is an other boot-able OS present.
Is this UBUNTU unusable for serious work?
Or is it a nice hobby OS project that is not yet finished.
Looks good if it boots it connects to Wlan and USB devices quick
But it does not run long until the next hangup.
It did not do what it promised no dual boot even the bios boot entry not shown
Possible that can work but not after some thorough study ?
Are the lovers of UBUNTU blind?
Do they don't mind to reboot as in the old DOS days?
Windows might be technical inferior to Linux but this Laptop with W7 is the only nice reliable working system right now.
